ALAUX 011/26 – USCG AUXILIARY EAST DISTRICT NORTHERN REGION

Subj: 2026 ASSOCIATION FOR RESCUE AT SEA GOLD AND SILVER AWARDS AND GEOFF PAGELS SAR PROFESSIONALS OF THE YEAR AWARDS SOLICITATION

1. The Coast Guard recently issued ALCOAST 050/26 (attached) to solicit nominations for the annual Association for Rescue at Sea (AFRAS) awards.

2. The AFRAS Silver Medal is presented annually to a deserving Coast Guard Auxiliarist(s). A collective nomination may be submitted for members of the same boat or air crew.

3. Nominations must be for calendar year 2025 rescues and must be received by the Coast Guard Office of Search and Rescue (CG-SAR) by March 17, 2026. Awardees will be announced via ALCOAST and they will be honored in a ceremony in Washington, D.C., sometime in 2026. Please note that AFRAS Silver Medal nominations may be submitted to CG-SAR by District Commodores via their respective District Directors of Auxiliary.
