ALAUX 005/26 – USCG AUXILIARY EAST DISTRICT NORTHERN REGION

Subj: AUXILIARY-SEA SCOUT YOUTH DEVELOPMENT (AUXSCOUT) PROGRAM – SOP REVISION

1. In November 2019, the inaugural national Auxiliary-Sea Scout Youth Development (AUXSCOUT) Program Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) document was issued to provide information and policy for the conduct of enhanced partnering between the Auxiliary and the Sea Scouts. It was last revised in April 2025.

2. The AUXSCOUT SOP has been revised again. Its new key provisions are:

a. Pursuant to the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA, doing business as Scouting America) update of its Youth Protection Training (YPT), this training is now referred throughout the SOP as Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).

b. Requisite SYT frequency to maintain currency and eligibility for BSA youth interaction has been changed from biennially to annually.

3. The revised AUXSCOUT SOP (AUX-SOP-002(F)) will be posted on the Chief Director of Auxiliary website (SOP section: https://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=BX-GROUP&category=sop) in the next week and will also be available on the Coast Guard Auxiliary Youth Programs website (https://auxscout.com).
