Subj: BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGEN ANNUAL TRAINING REQUIREMENT
1. Successful annual completion of the Blood-Borne Pathogen (BBP) training course remains a requirement for Auxiliarists to be assigned to duty performing ordered patrol missions for Coast Guard commands. This includes, but is not limited to, members in air and surface operations, and telecommunications. This requirement also includes all Auxiliarists who may incur occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material regardless of frequency. An Auxiliarist’s cognizant Operations Training Officer (OTO) can provide additional guidance to district leadership.
2. This requirement is specified in the Auxiliary Operations Process Guide, Volume I (16798.31A) of 01 August 2023.
3. The 2026 BBP training course is available through the Auxiliary Online Classroom. Obtain the Enrollment Key, enter the Auxiliary Online Classroom, click on the Risk Management and Operations Portal, then access the 2026 Blood-Borne Pathogens Training. Class completion will be reflected in AUXDATA II. Auxiliarists should retain a copy of their course completion to provide to their Order Issuing Authority if necessary.
